What it takes in a driveway
Residential placements are tighter than jobsites and the neighbors are closer. These are the four numbers that decide where the unit goes.
A standard unit needs a four-by-four level pad and about seven and a half feet of height clearance. It fits beside most cars in a two-car driveway.
The service truck works from a hose reach of roughly 25 feet. Behind a locked side gate or up a flight of stairs will not get serviced.
One unit handles a family plus a crew of six through a kitchen or bath remodel. Whole-house gut jobs with two trades on site run better with two.
On your own driveway or lot, nothing is needed. Set it in the street or a parking strip and the city wants an encroachment permit first.

A crew of framers tracking through a finished hallway six times a day costs more in wear than the rental does. Contractors on a remodel will ask for a unit for exactly this reason, and if they have not asked, ordering one before demolition week is the cheaper move.
Placement decides everything else. The flat part of the driveway, angled so the door does not open toward the neighbor, close enough that a service hose reaches from the curb. Grass is fine for a week or two but the unit will settle and the lawn under it will not recover, so pavement or gravel is better. If it has to sit in the street or on a parking strip, the city treats that as an encroachment and wants a permit before it goes down.
Choose the unit for who is using it. A standard unit is the right call when only the crew touches it. If your family is using it while the bathroom is offline, spend the extra on a deluxe with a flush and a sink, or on a two-stall trailer if you are living through a long remodel with kids. The difference in rate is small next to two weeks of complaints.
